Providing feedback to students in your classroom can help them grow knowledge toward the subject matter. It help them know what they did wrong or what they did correctly and give them praise for doing so! Teacher want to consider that feedback improves the students work, like Test or homework answers and helps them question why they got it wrong or correct. The comments need to be strong and actually reach the student. Teachers always want to provide their feedback in a timely manner because this helps increase the window of opportunity for learning. ALWAYS provide it in a fine tune and focusing it on when and what you say it is helps put the Feedback into the students mind.

  • Making test and homework value increase. On these assignments as well as others don’t only provide a circled letter or number actually take the time and leave comments on the students paper and make note that they can ALWAYS come and talk to you about any of the comments you left for them.
  • Teach your students that the feedback you leave is of value to them and their learning. Feedback is useful when you use it correctly. Explain to them that it is their so they can correct their mistakes and make the assignment better. Teach them the importance of the feedback even turn it into a mini lesson for them.
  • NEVER delay the Feedback! When students wait for their feedback it weakness the connection they will have with it, so the sooner the better!
  • Let the students try again until they get it right. This shows to them that you want them to succeed and that you’re willing to explain how, this helps learning improve.
  • Let the students provide their own feedback toward assignments and the give feedback to their peers. Engage with them while they provide the feedback to themselves and their peers.
  • Using Rubrics provides criteria in which the students can compare their assignments to. Involve the students in the developing them this help the students focus on their effort.
  • Lastly, give the students time to absorb what they got wrong or correct from the test or the assignment. This helps them make connections verses pushing past it and not learning what they missed or didn’t understand.
